FAQ

How Many Photos Will You Take?

I tend to take just the right amount of photos to get the best ones (after years of practice - not too many, not too little). I may snap away five or six photos at a time, but you won’t have to go through hundreds when the time comes to choose the final number of photos you get with the photo session you have purchased.

How Do You Edit?

All of your images will be carefully hand-edited using professional editing tools and techniques. My style comes down to steps that are unique to my brand - emotive, moody, and dark, and often desaturated. I like photos with very little retouching, smoothing, or other editing but on occasion, it’s necessary to remove blemishes or anything that shouldn’t be there naturally.

When Will I Get My Photos?

Within two (2) weeks, you’ll receive your photos. I will only send you the best ones - no awkward half-shut eyes or toes sticking out of socks. You’ll receive a link to my personal Dropbox account to download all of your edited photos.

What Kind of Files Will I Receive?

You’ll be given download access to high-resolution files of every image you have chosen. I will send you JPG full sized photos as well as smaller file sizes for your social media platforms. I don’t give out RAW files or unedited photos, sorry: You’re not paying for the ones that aren’t good or reviewed.

What Can I Do With My Photos?

By signing the Photo Release form I’ll provide you, you’ll be given full and unlimited rights to digital and print to share and use as much as you’d like. These are your photos! The only thing you can’t do is sell them or pass them off as your own images. I’d also like to ask that you don’t alter them by adding filters, cropping, or re-editing them, which undoes all of the hard work I put into them as well as the money you paid!

Can I Print My Photos?

Yes, of course! But (there’s always a big but) I can’t guarantee the exact outcome. My screen is calibrated to match with professional software, but colors may be off with other computer screens and third party printers. Non-professional inks, papers, and processes can fade and yellow with time, whereas professional prints on archival paper will last for years to come. Just make sure you inquire with your online or in-person vendor before printing and always use the full-size photos.

PHOTO POLICIES

Session Pricing

Prices shown under photo sessions are current. You can certainly contact me for your special needs if you don’t see something which fits your budget. In these cases, the terms and price will be set up-front for you in contract and are non-transferrable to another party.

Retainer Fee

A non-refundable retainer fee, listed with session pricing, is required to reserve your photo session appointment. If we need to reschedule, the retainer fee will be applied to that future session date. However, only one reschedule is allowed per retainer fee, and fees must be used within six (6) months of the original session date.

The remainder of your session fee is due seven (7) days before our appointment.

Rescheduling & Cancellations

If weather, health or other issues cause us to reschedule, your retainer fee will be transferred to a future session date.

However, if you are cancelling and do not intend to reschedule, remember that your retainer fee is non-refundable. Sorry, no exceptions.

Release Form

Upon booking a photo session with me and after I receive your non-refundable retainer fee, I will present you with a photo/model release form. I may showcase key images from our session on my website, blog, social media and other profiles unless you specifically request me not to do so. It is completely your choice to ask me not to post and/or use your name, venue, etc. Please note that no matter what you decide, I will still need a release form on file and it must be completed before I send you your final photos.

Digital and Print Release

All full-resolution digital images from our photo session come with an automatic print release from me which means you are free to do whatever you wish with the photo files given to you. Kevin Hartmann Photo still retains all copyrights to these images but will not sell RAW or unedited images to third parties.

Location & Travel Fee

If you wish to shoot at a location that is more than a 30 mile round trip (15 miles each way) from my home office, a travel fee of $50 will be added to your session price. This will be determined up front so there are no surprises to you.
